# Manage crews and lineups

> Group club members into crews and save arrangements of people, seats and equipment.

You need the club admin or owner role. Add people to the [member directory](/organisers/members) before adding them to a crew, and [register equipment](/equipment/bookings#register-equipment) before using it in a lineup.

A crew is a team drawn from your club's members. A lineup is a saved arrangement within that crew. You can keep several lineups for different boats or training combinations.

## Create and find a crew

1. Open **Crews** and choose **Create crew**.
2. Enter a name that distinguishes the group, then create it.
3. Open the crew. Use its actions menu to edit its name or colour when needed.

Use crew search or the crew picker to switch between groups. Turn on **Show archived crews** when looking for an archived group.

Each crew has three sections:

| Section | What you can do |
| -------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Schedule | View its sessions as a calendar or list, check availability and add sessions. |
| Members | Add or remove people and review their rowing profiles. |
| Lineups | Create, edit and reuse arrangements of people and equipment. |

## Add or remove crew members

Open the crew's **Members** section and choose the add-member action. Add people from your club to the selection list, then choose **Add to crew**.

Use a person's row action to remove them from this crew. They remain in the club directory. Review saved lineups and future sessions separately when your crew membership changes.

The session-count column counts scheduled assignments. It is not an attendance record.

## Save a lineup

<Steps>
  <Step title="Name the lineup">
    Open **Lineups** within the crew and choose **Add Lineup**. Give it a name you will recognise when selecting it for a session.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add equipment and people">
    Use the assignment controls to add resources and choose members. For boats, put members in the appropriate seats. Mark coaches with the coaching control. You can also keep participants without a boat-seat assignment.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check assignments">
    Inspect warning indicators beside assignments. Blades compares the member's profile with the seat or role, including coxing, rowing sides, sculling and coaching.

    Correct an unsuitable assignment or check the member's profile with them before proceeding.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save and reuse">
    Save the lineup. It appears in the crew's lineup list and can be selected when you [create a session](/organisers/sessions#create-a-session).
  </Step>
</Steps>

A lineup has no scheduled time. Availability checks belong to the session that uses it.

## Edit or delete a lineup

Use the lineup row's actions to edit its name or assignments, or to delete it. Sessions copy a lineup when it is selected. Editing or deleting the saved lineup does not revise the assignments in sessions already created from it.

## Open dietary requirements

Choose **Open Dietaries** from a lineup's actions to open a tab-separated list in a new browser tab. It includes names, account identifiers and dietary requirements for the lineup's members. You can copy it into a spreadsheet when arranging food.

Share this list only with the people who need it for that task.

## Archive or delete a crew

Use the crew's actions menu to archive a group you no longer actively schedule. Archived crews remain available through **Show archived crews**. Their calendar is read-only, and you cannot add sessions from it. Unarchive the crew when you want to resume planning.

Deletion is a separate action. Prefer archiving when you need to keep the crew available for reference. Before deleting, review its lineups and sessions; the delete action should not be used as a way to cancel scheduled outings.
